Hanging with the boys

Rovic running to get to the Frisbee first
Yesterday, we took my two little brothers to Kincaid School.  They have a neat play ground and hill/field.  Rovic, my 7 year old brother, loved it.  He was running around a lot.  He loves to run and I ran with him up and down the hill.. it was pretty much a work out.  Justin, he's 11, played with Cory most of the time.  They peppered with the volleyball and threw the frisbee.  Justin is not only a genius, but he is athletic, with so much potential.  He is so into the fashion these days, it is not even funny.  I hope he does great things in life.

Anyways, back to Rovic, he just makes my day.  Being that he is the baby of the family, he is pretty much dubbed as the cutest.  I loved seeing him play around and go nuts.  Makes me wish I had all that fun with no responsibilities nor worries again.  He surprised me with his sweet frisbee throwing skills and his dribbling/ basketball skills.  What a fun day with the boys!

Today Cory and I saw the movie Inception.  It was long, but you just get sucked into it and don't realize the time.  It had awesome effects, plus the story was intriguing.  I'd say, go watch it.  Better to watch it at home though in a nice comfortable home, because it is a 2.5 hour long movie.  We also bought Cory a new sketch book and charcoal.  Yes, he is drawing again.  Actually he hasn't drawn seriously since he was in college, so 5-6 years ago.  It makes me happy to see him draw.  It is like we can connect through art.  Me with photography, him with drawing.  He decided his first drawing be a picture I took, which I think is an honor he wants to draw from my work.

Hand Tram

Beautiful Gorge

Us <3 with the gorge
Today Cory and I drove down to Girdwood to hike to the Hand Tram.  A friend of ours told us about it and I was pretty excited to check it out.  Getting there was really easy.  What you do is go south on the Seward Hwy, take a right on the Alyeska Hwy, which takes you into Girdwood.  Go about 1.5 miles down and take a left at Crow Creek Mine Road (big yellow sign).  Follow that road for about 3 miles and to the right will be the parking lot where the trail head with a bathroom is located.  There will be a sign before the parking lot saying Winner Creek Trail or Hand Tram (I can't remember, but you will know).  The hike was well kept, but there were mud patches here and there.  The hike is about 1 mile to the hand tram.  Easy.  The Hand Tram was really fun to go on and you are suspended pretty high above the creek.  You just get in the little cage and pull yourself across.  If people are there, which there were, may help pull for you on the other side.  After the Hand Tram we hiked about 1/4 mile to the pretty gorge.  I had a lot of fun and really needed a touch of the outdoors.  Yay!

Well I am off to make some filipino style spaghetti.  It is delicious and more sweet than normal italian spaghetti.  It's a favorite :)  If you want the recipe, let me know.  You won't be turned down.

Get down and just lose it all

My mother and mother-in-law <3
This week was a total blast. My mother-in-law flew in on Monday the 19th because she bought my husbands truck. This gave her a good excuse to see Alaska and meet my family. She also got a sweet truck out of it, which she drove down. We did a lot for the days she was here (for example took her frolfing for her first time, took her to the beach where we got married, showed her Flat Top, showed her Elemendorf AFB, introduced her to filipino food my family made, and she even got a new tattoo). We had 3 full days with her and then she was off to Oregon on her own. She made a sweet bed in the back of her new truck, which meant she can sleep anywhere and not worry about setting up a tent or spending buckos on a hotel. It was awesome having her here and we definitely miss her presence. My family absolutely loved her. I am very thankful that I not only snagged myself a great husband, but a rad mother in law. I am glad the mothers got along great! Couldn't ask for more. One day, she will move here, we hope. We are awaiting her phone call which will let us know she made it passed the Canadian Border and into WA.
Sean & Nicolette's first dance
Moving on, this weekend was a lot of fun. Cory and I drove to Homer for Sean & Nicolette's wedding reception. They had their wedding back in May and they wanted to have their wedding secret from friends and family. Being that we were new friends to them, they asked me if I would take their photos and Cory marry them. We agreed and it was just the four of us off of the McHugh Creek Trail. I am so happy for them and honored we got to wed them. The wedding reception was in a log cabin looking bar with a small dance floor that filled up with people getting their groove on. There were 32' screens scattered among the walls that had a slideshow of the pictures I took. I thought that was way awesome. We had a little too much to drink, but it was all fun. The hangover was worth it. Cory even made a little speech for them, which was very unlike him! I was proud of him for doing that. Anyways, we danced the night away and it was just great meeting Nicolette's family & friends. Cory and I walked in knowing we wouldn't know anyone, but we fit in perfectly. Must be because we got credit for marrying them and people acknowledged that. Nicolette and I work together for the school district and she is just a wonderful person. Sean is a lucky man. I wish them the best in their married life.

Faith & Josh 2010

My friend, Faith, asked me to take pictures of her and her boyfriend one day. We've known each other for 8 years now. So Josh is her boyfriend and has been for the past year. I like him and totally approve. She deserves to be with a good guy and he has finally come around. Anyways, she had already scheduled a photo session with a different photographer, but asked me instead last minute. I was glad to, plus I got a bike ride out of it. I took them along the Campbell Creek Trail. It wasn't too serious of a shoot, because it was all on the fly.

Well I haven't wrote in this blog in forever. I have my reasons of staying busy. I have lots to add to this blog like my new job, getting married, going to Oregon, and stuff. I plan on writing in this blog more often. Being that this is the first post in awhile. I will keep it short. I am going to Homer tomorrow with hubby for a friends wedding reception. Pretty excited to see the place and her. Should be a blast!

XOXO
